An exciting opportunity has become available to work as an Arborist within the Arboriculture team. The position is for 1 FTE (37 hours) per week.
About you
You will be committed to providing an effective frontline service to the residents of Cheshire East in a courteous and professional manner. You will be expected to undertake a variety of tree works both in the parks and open spaces maintained by the council as well as sites relating to commercial contracts. For the right applicant, there is the possibility of obtaining further qualifications to build a successful career in this speciality, benefitting the individual and the council.
Required Qualifications
- A full UK driving licence. (B+E or C1+E trailer entitlement is desirable, but not essential).
- A good base knowledge of tree species identification, arboricultural operations and practices.
- Lantra or NPTC qualifications CS30, CS31, CS38 and CS39 qualifications or equivalent (CS32, CS40, CS41, CS47 and Mewp operator qualifications are desirable but not essential).
- Certified to operate a Woodchipper.
- Knowledge of working at height regulations.
- Effective communication skills.
- A flexible and can-do attitude.
- Emergency at work first aid qualification.
Responsibilities
Carrying out arboricultural works across the borough, ensuring that work is always carried out effectively and safely. This will include working at height and ground‑based operations. Safely climbing trees regularly using a variety of climbing aids and systems, and to be confident and capable to work at height. Using full safety and climbing equipment in an approved manner and in accordance with current safety guidelines and industry best practice.
