An exciting opportunity exists for the recruitment of 9 FTESEND Caseworkers. While we are making significant improvements to the service, we are on our improvement pathway and are seeking candidates experienced across SEND to join the next phase of our journey.

We have multiple roles across the service; therefore, allocation of locality/team (pre or post 16) will be discussed and determined upon successful appointment, depending on skills and experience.

We are seeking experienced SEN staff across all areas from Early Years through to Post 16.

*Working base either Macclesfield Town Hall or Delamere House, Crewe.

Job Purpose:

To undertake statutory assessments and the development and maintenance of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) across the Local Authority for Children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Maintain a caseload of children with EHCPs, attend annual reviews, and make changes to plans as required. Liaise with providers of childcare, education, or vocational provision to source appropriate placements for children and young people with EHCPs. Provide advice and support to parents and educational settings about SEND Code of Practice procedures, and how to request an assessment of need and suitable provision in an EHCP to meet identified needs.

At the forefront of this journey is the need to work as equal partners with parent/carers, children, young people, and other stakeholders. Candidates will need to demonstrate high levels of child and person-centred practice focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

You will:

  • Be thorough and up-to-date on SEN education legislation
  • Have experience working with young people with SEN
  • Have good knowledge and awareness of Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2014, and Equality Act 2010
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be able to problem-solve
  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Be resilient, organised, and hardworking
