This is a unique opportunity for a friendly, helpful and motivated Librarian to work at Prestbury Library.

As a solo worker we need you to have the energy and enthusiasm to engage with customers and respond to the needs of the local community, manage stock, and be the responsible person on site.

Prestbury Library is funded by the Ann Whittaker Trust and you will be liaising with the Trustees as part of the role.

Are you passionate about libraries and reading and do you have excellent customer service skills? If so, this vacancy for Librarian at Prestbury and Bollington Libraries may be for you.

As librarian you will have a strong interest in books and lifelong learning. You will be required to answer a range of enquiries and assist with IT queries. You would work with our library specialists and library colleagues to manage resources within the agreed stock policy and would be involved in promoting and marketing the service.

You will need to be friendly, confident and flexible, with excellent communication and organisational skills and ideally have experience of working in a public library. You need to be able to develop positive working relationships and deal with varied situations in a positive and supportive manner. You should have a good knowledge of MS Office applications and be flexible and able to work at other locations if required. Every other Saturday you will be based at Bollington Library where you may also be assisting with library events. See the attached job description and person specification for more details.

The hours are to be worked over a two week timetable and average 11 hours per week.

Week 1 Tuesday 10am – 5pm. Friday 10am – 1pm

Week 2 Tuesday 10am – 5pm, Friday 10am – 1pm, Saturday 9am – 1pm (at Bollington Library)
