Cheshire East is a big borough with huge potential. Home to 400,000 people, it’s a place with fantastic assets, great connectivity, and serious economic clout. With a new Leader and Deputy Leader, and a new Chief Executive in place, the council is embarking on a major reset to ensure our financial sustainability and protect essential services – creating a council that is fit for the future and that can continue to deliver our ambitions for the borough.

This includes recruiting a new team of outstanding senior officers who will play a fundamental role in our transformation journey and make a huge impact across the council and the borough.

We know we have a challenging journey ahead of us – but the building blocks are in place and we are determined to emerge as a stronger and more innovative council, with the right people and the right structure. Ultimately, this is about our communities and residents. The prize ahead is our ability to offer them the excellent services and support they deserve and fully release the borough’s potential.

This role will provide strategic leadership and management for a range of important front line services including waste, public protection, libraries, and planning, as well as ensuring the council has effective customer operations in place. Cheshire East is a borough with fantastic assets, great connectivity, and huge potential for growth. With our proximity and links to Merseyside, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, and the West Midlands, and strong rail and road networks, we are a pivotal ‘gateway’ for the North.

Our new Director of Planning and Environment will report to our newly appointed ED Place and lead a large directorate focused on delivering excellent services to communities as well as supporting growth and development.
