We are seeking an experienced Construction Skills Trainer/Assessor to support learners and apprentices completing Groundworks and Construction-related qualifications. The postholder will assess practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours in a workplace environment, ensuring learners develop the competencies required for safe and effective groundworks operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and Assess learners up to Level 3, in the workplace and College;
  • Support learner progress through assessment in the workplace and curriculum delivery;
  • Ensuring timely achievement of apprenticeship frameworks and standards;
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with college policies.

Key Person Specification Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Groundworks, Construction, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Level 2/3 qualification in Groundworks or related construction field.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience within Groundworks or a related commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of excavation, drainage, concreting, and site preparation.
  • Good knowledge of UK construction regulations (CSCS, H&S, NRSWA etc.).
  • Assessor qualification (A1/TAQA/CAVA) or equivalent (or commitment to work towards)
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths
  • Knowledge and understanding of awarding body standards and requirements;
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment;
  • Experience of working in further education;
  • Up-to-date occupational experience;
  • This role will be based across multiple sites and therefore a full current driving licence, use of a car and insurance for business purposes are essential to this role.
