An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (10 PA’s) Consultant Psychiatrist in Perinatal Mental Health Inpatient Unit. The post holder will be a core member of the new Mother and Baby Unit, Seren Lodge.
The successful applicant will be sole Consultant for Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit but also have good links to the Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Service which has 4 Consultants and (team) working across Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust. In addition, the post-holder will have an important role to play in the development and delivery of perinatal psychiatry services across the footprint of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust.
The successful applicant would be expected to take a leading role in the development of Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit which is for the women and families of Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales.
The suitably qualified candidate will have experience in clinical service provision in adult psychiatry services. Team leadership skills and expertise in the assessment and management of patients with mental illness.
Main duties of the job
The post supports service delivery in the new Mother and Baby Unit, sited in Chester, which will have 8 beds, 6 beds commissioned by LPC NHS England for the population of Cheshire and Merseyside and 2 beds commissioned by NHS Wales for the population of North Wales. The Mother and Baby Unit will also accept out of area referrals when beds are available. The MBU will have an outreach team as part of the clinical model and the Consultant Psychiatrist will hold a caseload of women open to the outreach team as well as being responsible for the continuity of care for women transitioning between the MBU and the community.
The post is offered on a basis of 5 days a week (10 PAs) and there is also the option of a job share.
The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a License to Practice. The applicant must also be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining Certificate of Completion of Training.
