We are seeking to appoint a trustee who has a desire to be part of our committed and supportive trust board, to make a real contribution to the shaping and future of Chesham Grammar School.

What are we looking for?

We have an opportunity for an individual, with at least three years governance experience, to join our experienced trust board.

What will you be doing?

Chesham Grammar School is an academy and the founding school of Red Kite Schools Trust. The Trust Board meets four times a year. Trustees are linked to specific areas of focus within the School’s Development Plan and have strategic link roles for Safeguarding and SEND. Trustees also meet as members of two committees, the “Finance, Audit and Premises” and “Curriculum and Standards” committee which report to the board. Each committee meets termly. We are currently a board of 14 trustees bringing a wide range of experience and skills to support the strategic development of this outstanding school (Ofsted March 2025) and look forward to working with our new trustee. Trustee\’s core responsibilities To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction To hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of Chesham Grammar School and any school joining the Trust in future years To hold leaders to account for the financial performance of Chesham Grammar School and any school joining the Trust in future years To manage the business of the Trust and may exercise all necessary powers in compliance with the Trust’s charitable objectives, company, and charity law Principles of the role Every trustee is expected to abide by the seven principles of public life set out by Lord Nolan Selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership
