Role Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Master Technician / Vehicle Technician to join our growing UK R&D team, supporting vehicle development and technical activities across multiple automotive brands including Omoda, Jaecoo, Chery and Lepas. This role plays an important part in ensuring our vehicles meet the technical, quality and regulatory requirements of the UK and European markets. The position involves working on development and production vehicles to support diagnostics, software updates, vehicle testing, product evaluation and engineering investigations. You will work closely with the UK After Sales team, dealerships and field technicians to investigate and resolve technical issues, ensuring a strong link between product development and real-world customer experience. The role also involves collaboration with our global engineering teams, including headquarters in China, the European technical office in Germany, and colleagues across other international markets. This is a dynamic and hands-on position requiring strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills and the flexibility to travel across the UK when required. As the UK R&D organisation continues to grow, this role offers strong career development opportunities, with the potential to develop into a technical lead or multi-brand technical operations role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and fault investigation on development and production vehicles.
  • Identify root causes of complex vehicle issues including electrical, electronic, software and mechanical systems.
  • Support engineering teams with technical analysis and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with vehicle testing, validation and product evaluation activities.
  • Support vehicle benchmarking and engineering development programmes.
  • Carry out vehicle software updates, ECU flashing and system configuration.
  • Work closely with the After Sales team and dealership networks to investigate and resolve field technical issues.
  • Support technical campaigns, service actions and quality improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with global R&D teams in China, Germany and other markets to support engineering investigations.
  • Travel across the UK to support technical investigations, dealership support, testing activities and engineering events.
  • Record and report technical findings, test results and investigation outcomes clearly to R&D and global engineering teams.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience working as a Master Technician or Senior Automotive Technician.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and performing ECU programming / software updates.
  • Strong hands-on technical capability and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK when required.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience supporting OEM engineering teams or vehicle development programmes.
  • Knowledge of electric vehicles, hybrid powertrains or ADAS technologies.
  • Experience working with prototype or pre-production vehicles.
