The Job:
Are you looking for an interesting and challenging role in finance? Do you want to make a difference and ensure the Council is ready for the future? If yes, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic individual to join the Finance Team at Cherwell District Council. The team provides support across a wide range of Council and associated company activities, which provides an exciting backdrop for new team members. In addition, the Finance Team is seeking to evolve so that it can provide support in the complex world of a modern local authority.
In this role, you will support the Corporate Finance section with their areas of responsibility. From the preparation of corporate income budgets, budget monitoring, through to the annual closedown of accounts as well as financial analysis and reporting. It gives you a chance to learn and develop a diverse knowledge and understanding of local authority accounting.

The Person:
We are looking for a qualified AAT member or equivalent with a depth and range of practical accounting experience ideally in a local authority setting. You will have good excel skills and the ability to analyse complex data. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support others to have a good understanding of financial matters of varying complexity. You will enjoy working in a team but will also be comfortable working on your own to meet tight deadlines.
