Location: Dependant on operational requirements

Hours: 25 hours - 40 hours.

As an Assessor-Coach, you will be responsible for carrying out workplace support, teaching, coaching and assessments for apprentices training towards their childcare qualification with the Cherubs Nurseries Academy. Qualified to at least Level 3 in Childcare with a recognised Assessor award (D32/D33, AL, TAQA or CAVA), you will draw on your passion for early years education, extensive experience, proven track record and knowledge of the sector to support all learners.

As part of this role, you will be required to undertake 20% of your contracted hours in one of our nursery settings to effectively role model and enhance practice, whilst keeping up to date with changes or updates in the sector. Supported by the Training and Development Manager, you will also lead in-house training and workshops. Due to the operational need of the business, this role will involve some evening and weekend work to support the shift patterns of our people. You must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel between our nurseries. Due to the changing nature of the service we provide, this job description will not be an exhaustive list of all your duties. Description of Duties

  • Deliver an amazing service, for both our children and families.
  • Induct learners and carry out the initial assessment in accordance with company and awarding body guidelines.
  • Visit learners in their workplace and online, using your vocational experience and knowledge to teach, coach and support learners to successfully achieve their apprenticeship.
  • Carry out assessments both at the learner’s place of work and in the Cherubs Nurseries Academy.
  • Prepare learners for the End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of the learner’s progress on Smart Assessor.
  • Complete, maintain and submit accurate records for all learners, as requested by the Operations Manager.
  • Provide additional support to learners in-person, on the telephone or virtually.

Take Ownership

  • Take ownership in everything, always being honest and transparent.
  • Ensure learners and nursery managers are correctly tracking “off the job” training on apprenticeships to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare materials suitable for the workplace qualifications and apprenticeships to support the learners in a successful outcome.
  • Effectively manage your own diary to ensure you are delivering against your KPIs, arranging and attending scheduled visits in person and online and completing both company and personal administration.

Commit

  • Commit to continuous improvement, always strive to be and do the best.
  • Participate in the delivery of training relating to relevant workplace qualifications, apprenticeships, and additional programmes and when required to, enhance learning with 1:1 tutoring.
  • Demonstrate up to date and thorough working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Development Matters and Cherubs Nurseries’ policies and procedures.
  • Participate in IQA activities with a willingness to gain these qualifications if needed in the future.

Embrace

  • Attend Assessor-Coach training and meetings, as required by Cherubs Nurseries and the awarding body.
  • Assist the Training and Development Manager in the design and delivery of CPD courses for internal staff.

Build

  • Complete at least 20% of contracted hours each week supporting the delivery of our childcare service to enhance your individual knowledge and demonstrate best practice to the learners and wider nursery team.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including nursery managers and academy staff to update on learners progress.
  • Escalate any issues as they arise to ensure all learners and nurseries are supported, should anything occur that could negatively affect the learner and/or apprenticeship.
  • Celebrate learners success during and at the end of their apprenticeship through personal emails and messages on company forums.
  • Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of your duties.

Key Outcomes

  • All learners on your caseload to be evidenced in learning on Smart Assessor with smart targets stretched and challenged progression.
  • All learners on your caseload have at least 20% off the job training evidenced.
  • Formal reviews for the learners on your caseload to be completed and signed by all parties (learner, nursery manager etc).
  • All learners on your caseload to be inducted and start learning in line with KPIs.
  • All learners to have successfully completed their Apprenticeship Training Pack and be using this as a working document throughout their apprenticeship.
  • All learners on your caseload to requiring functional skills to pass in line with KPIs.
  • All learners are compliant with ESFA funding regulations.

Your Qualifications And Experience

  • Level 3-5 qualification in Childcare (or equivalent)
  • A recognised Assessor award (D32/D33, AL, TAQA or CAVA)
  • Relevant experience and expertise in an early year’s environment
  • Full, clean driving licence with use of a vehicle
