Cherryvalley Group Practice is a 5-partner General Practice Surgery located in Kings Square, East Belfast. We provide a full range of general medical services and additional clinics at Cherryvalley Health Centre, with a commitment to delivering the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist/Health Care Assistant to join our clinical team. This is a superb opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and gain experience within a healthcare setting.

The Role

  • Working alongside qualified nursing staff, you will undertake a range of basic clinical tasks and administration duties, including:
    • Supporting qualified nursing staff in the management and execution of clinical practices
    • Delivering basic patient care, including recording height, weight and smoking status
    • Identifying patients for various clinics, taking responsibility for the distribution of invitations and any required follow-up
    • Obtaining, testing and accurately recording patient specimens within required collection timelines
    • Undertaking and accurately recording blood pressures, either opportunistically or as requested
    • Maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment in line with Health & Safety requirements
    • Providing administration support, including maintaining accurate patient records and supporting clinics and seasonal projects
    • Answering the phone and taking accurate messages in a courteous manner
    • Communicating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Working in accordance with Practice procedures and protocols at all times

Essential Criteria

  • Phlebotomy and blood pressure taking/recording
  • Basic general education and commitment to working towards an NVQ Level 3 Care qualification
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload
  • Strong IT and keyboard skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working in a general practice or healthcare setting

Salary & Benefits

Salary is negotiable depending on experience £27,000 - £30,000 pro rata per annum. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
