  • To work with Head/Deputy/Senior to promote a high standard of care within the house.

  • To accept and put into practice any medical guidance given.

  • To undertake other duties specified by the Head/Deputy/Senior as required.

  • Check the children a minimum of every 15 minutes. If awake, change/give drink and

re-settle.

Domestic:

· Ironing.

· Laundry – including putting away towels and bedding.

· Peel and prepare vegetables/make sandwiches, if required.

· Polish/clean children’s shoes.

· Clean toilets, floors and sinks and empty bins.

· Other duties as directed.

Liaising and communication:

Maintain an effective system of communication within the house and keep the Head of Care fully aware of all night occurrences and discuss any difficulties that may arise.

Staffing:

  • Promote a high level of staff morale and relationships.

  • Respect the children’s privacy. Only one child in the bathroom at one time. ALL children require supervision. N.B under NO circumstances must a child be locked in the bathroom or toilet.

  • Be fully aware of all house policies and procedures and to implement them.

  • Attend appropriate periods of training as organised by Head of Care.

  • Be fully conversant with Fire Procedures and any drill or exercises, as arrange by the Head of Care or Fire Officer.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times on all matters relating to the children, staff and house business.

General:

  • Keep Head of Care fully informed at all times.

  • Check and be aware of medications required.

  • There is always a member of staff on-call – check the name which will be entered in the Rota

  • Check the diary and handover book. Carry out instructions as appropriate, noting completion of tasks and recording any messages.

Records:

  • Report on each child.

  • Report any incident in the Accident Report book, if appropriate.

  • Make any entry on the Medication Chart, as appropriate.

  • Ensure that you are up to date with the information in each of the children’s files – read through children’s files and the Recent Reports file on a regular basis.

· Any offer of employment will be subject to the outcome of the prospective applicant having a DBS check – Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau check) and at least two satisfactory references prior to commencement of employment.

  • Previous experience in a care home setting

  • Knowledge of providing home care services

  • Strong English language skills

  • Basic IT proficiency

  • Excellent communication skills, * GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

  • Care home: 1 year (preferred)

  • Home care: 1 year (preferred)

Language:

  • English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
