Overview
To carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance, refurbishment, and installation of industrial laundry equipment including washing machines, dryers, ironers, and finishing equipment. Ensure all work meets safety standards, quality requirements, and production timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Disassemble, assess, and refurbish industrial washing machines, dryers, and other laundry machinery.
- Perform mechanical fitting, assembly, and repair of components including motors, bearings, pumps, belts, pulleys, and gearboxes.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance, fault finding, and reactive repairs.
- Carry out installation and commissioning of equipment at customer sites where required.
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety policies and workshop procedures.
- Record job progress, parts used, and any defects identified using job sheets or workshop software.
- Support electrical colleagues during machine rebuilds or service jobs where appropriate.
- Work to production schedules and deadlines, maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
- Liaise with team leaders and management to report issues, delays, or parts shortages.
- Maintain tools and workshop equipment in good condition.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in mechanical fitting, preferably within an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems – bearings, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics.
- Experience working with commercial laundry equipment is highly desirable.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret technical documentation.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems (advantageous).
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred if field-based work is expected).
