My client is a market-leading wholesaler within their product specialism supplying major global retailers. Recently acquired, the business is undergoing significant transformation — combining the culture of a family-run £18m turnover operation with the pace, structure and demands of a global parent group. This is a rare opportunity to step into a broad, high-impact Finance Manager role at a pivotal moment for the business.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a nearly qualified or recently qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) looking to step up into their first Finance Manager position. It will particularly suit a strong Management Accountant who’s ready for more ownership, leadership and influence. You’ll report locally to the COO and directly into the UK Head of Finance (Manchester-based), giving you both day-to-day visibility and strategic exposure within the wider group.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of local finance operations while driving much-needed change across processes, controls and systems. Responsibilities include:
- Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts by working day 3.
- Oversee all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce weekly aged debtors with commentary for directors.
- Prepare aged creditors and inventory reports.
- Support annual budgets, forecasts and year-end financial statements.
- Ensure compliance across VAT, NI, PAYE and group reporting standards.
- Business Partnering & Transformation
- Act as a strong business partner across departments during a period of significant process and system development.
- Lead finance-driven change initiatives to modernise processes and improve controls.
- Team Leadership
- Oversee, mentor and develop a growing local finance team: 1 x Assistant Accountant, 1 x Sales Ledger Clerk.
- External Relationships
- Liaise with auditors and ensure smooth year-end preparation.
- Coordinate with the Slovakia accountant for group consolidation.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll thrive here if you are:
- Nearly qualified or recently qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Keen to make the jump into a first Finance Manager position
- Dynamic and driven
- Confident, commercially aware and comfortable partnering with senior stakeholders
- Excited by change, modernisation and improving financial processes
- Able to balance hands-on detail with big-picture thinking
