Cherry Professional is proud to be partnering with a household name to recruit a Payroll Controller into their Head Office team in Leicester. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys more than “just processing” — you’ll work closely with HR and operational teams each month to ensure accurate calculations across overtime, enhancements and wider pay elements.

Type: Permanent

Location: Head Office, Groby (Leicester) – hybrid working available (minimum 3 days per week in the office)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Fluid options available if desired – longer weeks than others during the payroll period, balancing out over the cycle.)

Flexibility: Open to full-time or 0.8 FTE (salary pro-rated for 0.8)

Salary: Up to ÂŁ38,000 FTE (depending on experience)

Key responsibilities
  • End-to-end payroll delivery, ensuring accuracy, compliance and a great internal service
  • Partnering with HR and operational stakeholders to capture and validate monthly pay inputs (including overtime/enhancements)
  • Handling payroll queries and supporting continuous improvement across processes and controls
  • Supporting reporting and reconciliations as required (payroll / pension / statutory elements)
What we’re looking for
  • Proven payroll experience in a busy environment (must be full payroll, end-to-end)
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with multiple stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with payroll data, deadlines and process improvement
  • Desirable (not essential): exposure to NHS payroll / NHS pensions and/or Select Pay (Access)
