A long-established UK manufacturer is entering an exciting new chapter following international investment and is now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function. The company produces high-quality bespoke and standard joinery products for commercial and residential markets and is focused on growth, modernisation, and strengthening its financial operations.
This is a newly created role and the most senior finance position within the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll have full responsibility for financial management across two sites in Burton on Trent and Leicester. You’ll deliver timely and accurate reporting, drive financial planning and analysis, and work closely with the senior leadership team to shape business strategy. The role will also focus on modernising financial systems and processes, introducing stronger controls, and improving visibility through enhanced reporting and KPIs. Leading a small, capable finance team, you’ll ensure robust governance, support operational decision-making, and play a key part in the company’s continued success under new ownership.
We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within manufacturing or a product-based environment. You’ll be confident operating as the No.1 in finance, combining technical excellence with strong commercial awareness. Hands‑on and proactive, you’ll enjoy taking ownership and driving improvements, balancing day‑to‑day control with strategic insight. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across the business are essential. Experience with Cognos or other group reporting tools would be an advantage.
Competitive salary of £70,000 – £80,000 plus benefits. Full ownership of the finance function in a growing, well‑backed business. Opportunity to modernise systems, influence strategy, and make a visible impact. Supportive, hands‑on environment with strong prospects for development.
