The role
You’ll support a portfolio of small business clients, taking responsibility for the preparation of accounts and related compliance work, while providing a professional and responsive service throughout the year.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparingyear-end accountsfor a range of small business clients (primarily owner-managed businesses)
- Ensuring accounts and submissions are completed accurately and on time forCompanies HouseandHMRC
- Preparing or assisting withcorporation tax computations/returns(depending on experience)
- Producingbookkeeping, reconciliations, and reviewing clientrecords to identify issues and improve accuracy
- Liaisingwithclientstogathermissing informationandresolvequeries efficiently
- Supportingcolleagues across the SmallBusiness Team during peak periods
About you
We’re looking for a hands‑on accounts professionalwith practiceexperience who is comfortable working to deadlines and communicating confidently with clients.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in anaccountancy practice(essential)
- Experience preparingstatutory accountsfor small companies/owner-managed businesses
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements forCompanies HouseandHMRC
- AAT qualified (or studying) would be preferred, but relevant experience is equally important
- Strong attention to detail, good organisation, and a collaborative approach
