We’re looking for a General Manager for The Chequers Inn, in Hanham Mills, Bristol. The ideal candidate is community-focused, an experienced operator who is passionate about developing their people.
For our customers, the pub offers the perfect place to while away the hours surrounded by breathtaking scenery, great food and great cask ale. The bustling summer months mean that the community expands, and the pub is full of visitors from walkers (we’re located on a popular trail), holidaymakers and plenty who have made the trip specifically to visit us and while away the hours in our extensive riverside garden.
Our menu is designed in house, using fresh, seasonal ingredients – think elevated pub classics done brilliantly – fresh, vibrant and uncomplicated. We have a strong reputation for our ever-changing Day Boat Fish menu and so experience managing a Fresh Food business is preferred.

Running a Pub for Young's: We believe pubs should be differentiated and individual and so we are looking for entrepreneurial General Managers to put their own stamp on our businesses. We're all about freedom within a framework - you decide what goes on the food menu and tailor your offer to your guests while growing the business in line with your vision. You decide what events and sales driving to do, what the team uniform is, and look after all your own recruitment and marketing.
