We're looking for a Production Supervisor to join our on-site solution in Sittingbourne. It's the perfect opportunity to take the next step in your career into a management role. The role will include hands-on operational work with scheduled time to build your skills in the value-add of management, including time working on H&S, Quality and your managerial skillsets. This role is working 4 on - 4 off, Day shifts. £28,000-£31,000 + 20% shift allowance.

CHEP manage a large pallet pool which is rented out to customers, and our operations repair and maintain the pallets. The primary purpose of the role is to lead a shift of 10-15 staff, you'll promote continuous improvement, safety and quality metrics whilst providing leadership to your team. You'll also build and maintain good relations with 3rd party management teams on site.

Key responsibilities:
  • Supervise, develop, and coach employees to build and maintain good relationships with third party management teams.
  • Continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause (i.e. Data analysis and improvement / correction plans).
  • Ownership and control of all quality related issues on their site/shift.
  • Drive a zero-harm culture within the site/shift.
  • Conduct tours in the 1-CHEP Management Observation Tool (MOT).
  • Lead root cause analysis of all incidents that happen on shift.
  • Recognise change as necessary and willingly share knowledge across business areas.
  • Adapt and learn in new situations.
  • Control Yard and Warehouse movements delegating relevant tasks to FLT drivers bearing in mind warehouse needs.
  • Hold daily shift briefs and report plant KPIs.
  • Monitor and ensure consistent, timely responses to all relating to zero harm and production KPI.
  • Owning the controls on safety, quality, production.
  • Assist in monitoring of employees holidays in compliance with the holiday policy booking system.

  • Deputise for the Site Lead in their absence.
What you'll need:
  • Experienced in lean based/CI operational role would be an advantage.
  • 3 years in a production, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
  • Ideally worked in a quality focused environment and familiar with quality-based standards.
  • Worked successfully in a matrix structure.
  • Strong numerical and verbal skills.
  • Highly organised with a flexible, pro-active, self-motivated, and persistent approach.
  • Good coaching skills.
  • Proven skills and capabilities in communication and problem solving.
  • Knowledge and experience of quality principles.
  • Experienced in the application of MS-Office.
