Position Purpose
The Field Test Engineer will perform data analysis for IoT hardware during field testing or from deployment activities. This role is ideal for a person with insight and data analysis experience in a product testing or validation function, or a want to learn testing and validation functions. This position is crucial for the team to effectively deliver valuable analysis and insights to drive key IoT hardware business decisions.
Scope
This position will be testing or validating IoT Hardware performance for field testing or deployment activities. This position will need to learn IoT hardware operations to effectively analyze performance. This person will execute or support other team members in complex data analysis. This role will also perform test/validation activities as assigned.

- Analyze data and deliver accurate, meaningful, and insightful recommendations.
- Provide data analysis charts, graphs, data tables, or other documentation for collaboration and report outs to key stakeholders and leaders.

- Knowledge gain and understanding of key hardware functions.
- Develop, execute, analyze and report out on assigned test/validation activities.
- Be team’s data analysis expert, execute or support complex data analysis accurately and generate insights according to test/validation plan’s deliverables.
- Improve team’s overall data analysis tool usage and experience.
- Documenting and updating results and insights to Jira/Confluence or other similar document reporting system.
- Provide tables, graphs, or other documents to report out results and insights to key stakeholders and leadership.

- Collaborate effectively with diverse regional and global team members operating remotely.
- Manage multiple concurrent activities efficiently.
- Analyze extensive volumes of both structured and unstructured data.
- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to varying testing and validation scenarios, often relying on Ad Hoc data.
- Acquire a foundational understanding of IoT hardware functions to enhance insightful analysis.
- Effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making and support learnings.

Qualifications
- Test/validation plan development, execution, analysis, and report out experience or willingness to gain this experience and perform assigned testing/validation activities.
- Self-starter with an inquisitive mindset and an interest in understanding the ‘why’. And learn about IoT device operation basics to aid in better data insight analysis and test/validation plan activities.
- Strong SQL experience to conduct queries and extract data needed for testing/validation analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills to perform data analysis.
- Able to analyze various sizes of data sets to discover trends, patterns, and insights to provide validation or actionable activities on IoT hardware performance.
- Create comprehensive data visualization documents/displays that accurately provide metrics or insights to make data driven decisions.
- Experience training people in learning how to use data analysis tools for basic to intermediate levels.
- Experience in introducing data automation to repetitive data analysis tasks.
- A plus, experience using other data analytic tools like Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, Java, Apache or other tools to extract, transform, analyze, and visualize data.
- Experience in using statistical tools in test/validation plan development and analysis like but not limited to; variance analysis, sample size determination, hypothesis testing or willingness to learn.
Experience
- 3+ years of Data Analytics experience in turning data into insights and recommendations for action.
- 2+ years of experience in communicating (verbal and written) insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 1+ year of data analysis on IoT hardware, equipment, or other product where operational performance data had to be collected, analyzed, and visualized.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent teamwork skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic, cross‑functional environment.
- Appetite to explore/gain knowledge on IoT hardware.
- SQL language to be able to extract and load data for analysis.
- Other tools like Python or R a plus.
- Able to analyze complex data sets to generate metrics and insights.
The salary range for this position is £48,000 to £66,000 / year. Salary ranges provided take into account a wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications, geographic differentials and other business and organizational needs. Therefore, actual amounts offered may be higher or lower than the range provided.
