Job details
You will be supporting the delivery of laboratory services by ensuring the accurate receipt and logging of samples, allocating job numbers and maintaining sample records. The role also involves liaising with customers and internal teams to provide an efficient, professional and high-quality service.
What you will do:
- Receive sample deliveries from customers and couriers, ensuring all samples are matched with the correct testing instructions as quickly as possible.
- Register samples accurately within LIMS, allocate the appropriate testing requirements and maintain up-to-date sample records.
- Record unscheduled or queried jobs, notifying the relevant internal teams and supporting the resolution of any issues.
- Identify samples requiring subcontracted analysis and complete the necessary subcontracting records accurately.
- Store samples in the correct locations, updating LIMS with accurate storage and tracking information.
- Work closely with other departments, supporting non-conforming work investigations and identifying opportunities to improve processes and procedures.
- Promote strong health and safety standards, including the correct use of PPE, while maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised sample reception area and keeping training records up to date.
Who you are:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confidence using standard computer systems.
- Able to work independently, use sound judgement and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- Resourceful, reliable and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Well organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Previous experience working within a busy, customer-focused environment.
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
