Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers. An exciting opportunity has arisen within CEUK for a Maintenance Technician (Electrical) to assist the site Maintenance Department with managing the electrical maintenance works across the business.
The Maintenance Technician (Electrical) will assist the Maintenance Department to diagnose and repair electrical equipment breakdowns, carry out periodic inspection/testing and perform planned preventative maintenance tasks.
Key Accountabilities & Duties:
- Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
- Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act.
- Carry out electrical Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Reactive Maintenance (RM) to production equipment and electrical infrastructure.
- Fault diagnosis and route cause analysis.
- Work in accordance with site procedures, engineering standards and relevant legislation.
- Utilisation of the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system for all maintenance works.
- Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and is to the required standard of workmanship.
- Work in accordance with the site permit to work system.
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Served a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering.
- Ability to diagnose faults on mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
- Good working knowledge of maintenance practice, MTBF, condition monitoring etc.
- Experience in an electrical maintenance role.
- Ability to work to tight timescales.
Desirable:
- Compex certification.
- Experience working in a high hazard industry.
- CMMS experience.
- Industrial Health and safety training.
- 18th Edition wiring regulations.
The Candidate:
- Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
- Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
- Strong IT, communication and team working skills.
- Knowledge of the principles of company policy and operating procedures in order to ensure site and company compliance.
- Excellent communication skills.
- To be successful, applicants must have a flexible approach to their work and be a team player.
