Are you an experienced civil or structural engineer with a proven track record in planning, designing, and managing building and infrastructure projects? We’re looking for a Civil & Building Works Engineer to take responsibility for the overall planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the civil, structural, and building infrastructure at our Ardeer site. With over 150 office, storage, production, and service buildings on site, this role is central to maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing facility in a unique manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and procedures; proactively report unsafe acts or conditions via the Near Miss system.
- Monitor, maintain, and update site civil, structural, and building engineering construction standards.
- Identify materials, resources, and expertise required to deliver civil, structural, and building requirements for capital expenditure projects in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare design and specification documents for competitive tendering to contractors.
- Develop and submit capital expenditure proposals for CEUK Director and Group approval.
- Plan, manage, and oversee on-site contractor works, ensuring projects are completed safely, to high quality standards, and within planned timescales and budget.
- Oversee site maintenance activities for civil and building works, ensuring completion to acceptable standards.
- Conduct annual inspections and prepare reports for all site buildings; raise repairs in the maintenance Agility system and track progress.
- Fulfil client duties for CEUK in compliance with the Construction, Design & Management Regulations 2015.
- Manage asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) on site in compliance with current asbestos legislation.
- HND in Civil Engineering or relevant experience.
- HNC in Construction or relevant experience.
- Experience in civil, structural, and building construction.
- Strong knowledge of Scottish Building Regulations & Standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- IT skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Construction, Design & Management Regulations.
- Project management experience.
- Strong contractor management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Good decision-making ability and ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Self-motivated with experience in an explosive manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of impact and blast effects on buildings.
- Experience in risk assessment and method statement preparation.
- Knowledge of permit-to-work systems.
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
- Has a strong bias for action, spotting potential issues early and coordinating effective resolutions.
