Overview of the role
The Production Operative will be required to weigh, fill and press Squib Cartridges, manufacture and prepare Chaff products, flare assembly, MTV pellet pressing and other processes required for Chaff, pyrotechnic flare production, MTV, Spectral, Naval & Phosphorus products.
Responsibilities
- Follow all process instructions, risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Meet daily production targets with accuracy and efficiency.
- Comply with all health and safety requirements, including wearing full PPE and RPE for process activities.
- Perform quality checks as directed and maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Record production data accurately using templates and mobile devices.
- Report near misses, accidents and incidents promptly.
- Participate in shift meetings for priorities and safety updates.
- Handle pyrotechnic materials safely in line with compliance requirements.
- Complete CCM induction, training modules and adhere to Code of Conduct.
- Communicate in English across all work areas.
- Be flexible and multi-skilled to support production needs.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
- Ability to wear full PPE/RPE for process activities.
- Basic understanding of safety documentation (Process Instructions, Risk Assessments, COSHH, Manual Handling).
- Strong written and spoken English skills.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Compliance with safety standards, including Drugs and Alcohol testing.
- Experience following Process Instructions and Safe Systems of Work.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
- Ability to pass BPSS checks, including DBS clearance.
- Basic IT proficiency, including the ability to use mobile devices and production systems.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
- Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection techniques.
- Basic aptitude for minor troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem-solving ability and reporting.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
- Previous experience handling chemicals or hazardous materials.
This role will be worked over 4 days, working 34 hours per week, Mon to Thurs 06:00 β 15:15pm. Flexibility in this role is critical to the success of supporting the team. The Production Operative role will be temporary from June till the end of September.
Salary: Β£23,779.60
Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire (SP4 6AS), United Kingdom. Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Salisbury, Wiltshire for this job.
