About The Role The Accounts Receivable Clerk will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate billing and collection of receivables across a portfolio of international development projects. This role will support the wider finance team by maintaining strong relationships with clients, managing debtor ledgers, and ensuring compliance with invoicing procedures and financial reporting standards. The role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a proactive approach to managing accounts receivable processes in a fast-paced, mission-driven organisation. This role is offered as a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension or transition into a permanent position. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Receivable Management Assist Project Accountants to ensure all costs are correctly coded and entered in the finance system prior to raising sales invoices. Raise accurate and timely invoices in accordance with project contracts and funding guidelines. Monitor the aged debt report, chase outstanding payments, and maintain clear records of communications with clients. Resolve invoice and payment discrepancies in collaboration with project teams and clients. Ensure supporting documentation is compiled and submitted alongside invoices to meet client requirements. Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and reconcile client accounts as needed. Finance Administration & Reporting Assist in monthly and quarterly reporting cycles by providing updates on aged debt and cash flow forecasts. Support the finance team in maintaining an accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable ledger. Liaise with the Project Accountants and project teams to ensure invoices are aligned with budget forecasts and project milestones. Assist in the preparation of audit documentation related to accounts receivable, responding to internal and external queries. Compliance & Process Improvement Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and donor compliance requirements relating to receivables. Contribute to process improvements and suggest ways to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the billing cycle. Ensure GDPR and data protection guidelines are followed when handling client and financial information. Person Specification: Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in an accounts receivable or finance support role. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing financial data. Strong communication skills – able to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Proactive and solution-focused with a team-oriented approach. Competent user of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated understanding of financial systems or ERP software (e.g. Sage, SAP, QuickBooks, etc.). Desirable Experience working in an international development, consultancy, or donor-funded environment. Knowledge of foreign exchange implications on receivables is a plus. Education & Professional Development AAT qualification (or working towards), or equivalent work experience in a similar role.
