Specialist Nurse Advisor – Chronic Headache/Chronic Migraine. Exciting new opportunity working in Birmingham.

Location: Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Birmingham, University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust (QEHB)
Hours: Part time, equivalent to 2.5 days per week (maximum 18.75 hours per week), with flexible working patterns considered.
This position is working initially on a 12 month fixed term contract.
We are looking for a Band 6 Registered General Nurse (NMC Registered) to support specialist neurology centres in the co‑ordination of their headache pathway – facilitating and supporting headache patients in receiving therapy reviews and optimum treatment within Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Birmingham, University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust (QEHB).
This role will be working with a specialist hospital trust in the UK dedicated to providing comprehensive neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services. You will be an active member of the neurology team and will contribute to improving the management and support of patients with headache conditions, to play a key role in service development, pathway optimisation, and collaborative working across the wider multidisciplinary team.
As a specialist nurse advisor with an intimate understanding of national treatment guidelines, you will work together with patients and practices to assist healthcare professionals to deliver the most up to date care for their patients. You will participate in managing patients in the headache pathway for chronic migraine patients specifically to identify those eligible to receive recently approved therapy.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the headache pathway ensuring timely therapy reviews and treatment for patients.
- Provide specialist guidance to allied health professionals and primary care practices.
- Contribute to service development and pathway optimisation.
Qualifications
- Band 6 RGN
- Current NMC Registration – Registered Nurse – Adult Level
Experience Required
- Experience in Neurology and Pain Management
- An interest/understanding of the management and treatment of chronic headache/chronic migraine would be advantageous but not essential.
