The Opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially minded Finance Analyst to join our growing Commercial Finance team, supporting the Merchandise and Marketing portfolio. Reporting to the Finance Manager - Merchandise & Marketing, this role sits at the heart of trading performance - partnering closely with Buyers and key stakeholders to deliver insights that drive margin, optimise promotions, and ensure strong rebate governance. This is a hands-on role where you’ll own key processes, influence decision-making, and play a critical role in improving financial visibility across one of the most commercially dynamic areas of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key finance partner to the Merchandise team, providing day-to-day commercial support
  • Analyse monthly trading performance across sales, margin, rebates and costs
  • Partner with Buyers to assess supplier agreements, trading terms and promotional activity
  • Support pricing, ranging and promotional decisions through financial analysis
  • Own end-to-end rebate management, ensuring accurate accruals, reporting and collections
  • Maintain strong governance and controls to protect trading gross profit
  • Prepare monthly reporting and provide clear insights into performance drivers
  • Investigate and explain variances to budget, forecast and prior periods
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the Merchandise function
  • Contribute to system and BI improvements to enhance reporting and data quality

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in commercial finance, management accounting or analyst roles (retail/FMCG/wholesale preferred)
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into insights
  • Exposure to rebates, trading income or margin analysis (highly regarded)
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets
  • Strong attention to detail and financial discipline
  • A proactive, curious mindset with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders
  • CA/CPA qualification (or working towards)
