KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Dispensary Technician Your typical duties and tasks will be to:
- The assist the pharmacist with the dispensing process in line with current legislative, professional and ethical obligations and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
- Checking with the pharmacist to ensure that all prescriptions are accurate and complete.
- Ensuring all prescriptions are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assist with the management of pharmacy stock levels and replenishment of stock.
- Maintaining and filing prescription records including the pricing of prescriptions where needed.
- Provide expert advice to patients regarding the safe and appropriate use of all medicines.
- Provide expert advice to patients regarding the safe and appropriate use of complementary medicines.
- To support pharmacists to provide guidance and expert advice to other pharmacy staff about the safe and appropriate use of medicines, particularly over-the-counter (OTC) and Pharmacy only medicines. Where pharmacy staff can give accurate advice to patients about OTC and pharmacy only medicines.
- To support pharmacists to provide guidance and expert advice to other pharmacy staff about the safe and appropriate use of complementary medicines. Where pharmacy staff can give accurate advice to patients about complementary medicines.
- To create and maintain effective relationships with patients, customers and suppliers.
- To communicate effectively with a diverse range of people including patients, pharmacy staff, suppliers and other health professionals.
- To ensure all pharmacy claims are correct and transmitted to the PCRS by the required date.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with customers from different cultural backgrounds and with varying health issues.
- Demonstrated ability to verbally express thoughts, information and ideas in a clear, concise, accurate and coherent way using an appropriate manner.
- Able to demonstrate an ability to organise self to meet deadlines and manage conflicting deadlines and requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of quality services.
- Honesty, integrity and an understanding of the significance of confidentiality.
- Be responsible for the quality of your own work.
- Attend staff meetings and in store training as and when required.
- Report security risks and thefts to management and/or security guards when applicable.
