Sigma Healthcare is seeking an experienced Corporate Lawyer to join our Legal, Property & Leasing team. In this role, you'll be a trusted legal adviser supporting our extensive retail pharmacy network, partnering closely with business leaders to deliver practical legal solutions that enable growth while managing risk. About the Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager Legal, Property & Leasing, you will take ownership of a broad range of retail leasing matters from instruction to completion. Working closely with internal stakeholders, landlords, agents and external advisers, you'll provide commercially focused legal advice that supports strategic and operational objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on retail leasing, property and related commercial matters across Sigma's retail network.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, agreements for lease, renewals, assignments, licences, subleases, variations and other property documentation.
- Managing leasing transactions from negotiation through to execution and completion.
- Partnering with business stakeholders on site acquisitions, renewals, relocations, expansions and closures.
- Advising on retail leasing legislation and issues including rent reviews, options, outgoings, make‑good obligations and assignments.
- Supporting the resolution of leasing disputes and property‑related issues.
- Conducting legal due diligence and providing support on business development and transactional matters.
- Managing external legal advisers and contributing to continuous improvement within the legal function.
Who Are We Looking For?
You're an experienced lawyer who combines strong technical expertise with commercial pragmatism and a collaborative approach. You'll bring:
- Bachelor of Laws and current practising credentials.
- Approximately 5-7 years' post-qualification experience in property and leasing law.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and legal advisory skills.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to balance legal risk with business outcomes.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment.
- Accustomed to a high degree of autonomy, responsibility and accountability in managing your portfolio.
