Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Production Planner to oversee and optimise our production planning processes. This role is critical in ensuring efficient production flow, minimising delays, and maximising resource utilisation while maintaining high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics manufacturing, ERP/MRP systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand while optimising resources and minimising waste.
- Collaborate with production, procurement, engineering, and sales teams to ensure alignment on production priorities.
- Analyse capacity, materials, and workforce availability to proactively address potential bottlenecks.
- Monitor and adjust schedules in response to changing demand, material shortages, or equipment issues.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of planning processes, incorporating best practices and lean methodologies.
- Drive adherence to delivery commitments and ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance.
- Utilise ERP/MRP systems to plan, track, and report on production activities.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring production schedules align with engineering and procurement timelines.
- Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and components.
- Identify and mitigate risks in the production plan, providing solutions to meet business objectives.
- Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning and efficiency.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a production planning role within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (IFS, SAP, or similar).
- Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing, capacity planning, and supply chain principles.
- Ability to interpret BOMs, shop orders, and engineering documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree or HND in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- APICS/CPIM certification or equivalent in production planning and inventory management.
- Experience with electronic component supply chain challenges.
- Knowledge of IPC standards and PCB manufacturing processes.
