Job Purpose

The Laboratory Coordinator role is to support the chemistry and operations team as they execute critical laboratory research, development, and manufacturing tasks to ensure high-quality, reproducible, high-throughput, and safe chemical manufacturing and data acquisition. The Laboratory Coordinator’s main task is to maintain stock throughout the laboratory, make up standards needed for operations and chemistry teams, carry out balance calibrations weekly, clean the glassware and other reaction-ware used by the chemistry and operations teams, to ensure the productivity of the chemistry team while they carry out development and manufacturing tasks. The ideal candidate will be a conscientious and responsible individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining laboratory housekeeping (glassware, working areas)
  • Carry out balance calibrations
  • Maintain stock of consumables
  • Return the dried glassware to the appropriate location(s) in the laboratory
  • Communicating with Laboratory Manager/chemists to schedule tasks
  • Complying with laboratory safety and procedures
  • Taking the initiative to suggest improvements to working practices

Qualifications and Experience

  • Higher (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and a Science subject desirable
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a Science Subject a plus
  • Any previous work experience in a laboratory environment would be advantageous
  • Experience handling chemicals would be advantageous
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good time-keeping
  • Safety-conscious
