The Role
We are seeking a Chemistry Automation Testing Technician to put our robotic synthesis platform through its paces — running test syntheses on our robotic systems, validating that hardware, firmware, and software perform correctly against real chemistry, and feeding what you find back to the engineering teams. You will be the hands-on bridge between the lab bench and the engineers building the platform.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up and run test syntheses and experiments on our robotic synthesis systems.
- Prepare reagents, load and operate the platform, and follow test protocols safely and accurately.
- Validate hardware, firmware, and software behaviour against expected chemical outcomes.
- Record results carefully, log issues, and feed clear, reproducible feedback to engineering teams.
- Help develop and refine test procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Support routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of the systems.
About You
You are a careful, practical lab worker who likes hands-on work with equipment and enjoys getting to the bottom of why something did not behave as expected. You are comfortable around chemistry and curious about the automation that runs it.
We expect you to bring:
- A qualification in chemistry or a related science (e.g. HNC/HND, BSc) or equivalent hands-on lab experience.
- Practical wet-lab experience: reagent preparation, running reactions, and following protocols.
- Careful, methodical working and rigorous record-keeping.
- Comfort working with automated equipment and an appetite to learn the robotics and software side.
- Strong awareness of lab health and safety.
Beneficial Skills
- Experience with automated or high-throughput lab systems.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, LC-MS, NMR) for checking outcomes.
- Basic data-logging or scripting ([Python]) to help capture and analyse results.
- Exposure to a regulated or quality-controlled lab environment.
