Are you an advanced and experienced cardiac physiologist ready to excel at one of the UK's prestigious NHS Trusts? You will work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics and handle a full spectrum of advanced electrophysiology procedures, conduction system pacing and complex devices as part of a large cardiac rhythm management program. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust offers opportunities for teaching, mentorship and collaboration with Imperial College London, with state-of-the-art facilities at Hammersmith Hospital. Main duties of the job:

  • Manage the provision and quality of the Imperial Cath Lab service, rotating across sites as required.
  • Perform EP/CRM on adults with a range of disabilities and medical conditions across the trust sites (outpatients, wards and specialist intensive care units).
  • Collaborate with colleagues, hospital staff and patients to ensure service needs are met; undertake education and training of junior colleagues and other professionals.
  • Lead the EP/CRM team at Imperial with regard to appraisal, workload, career development and education.
  • Responsible for achieving performance targets related to service, supporting General Managers in directorate, CPG and Trust targets; deliver agreed clinical outcomes, efficiency and service line reporting.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified cardiac physiologist IBHRE/BHRS up-to-date accreditation and registration.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, including attendance of local/in-house management courses.
  • Qualifications/experience suitable for STP equivalence.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Higher academic qualification (MSc/MBA/PhD/doctoral study).
  • Formal management qualification.
  • Clinical assessment training.
  • Registered clinical scientist with the HCPC.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Previous leadership of a department/sub-speciality area of cardiac physiology.
  • Line-management responsibilities for a team of physiologists.
  • Strong teaching/training background for individuals undergoing accreditation.
  • Experience of advanced EP/complex CRM implants.

Desirable experience:

  • Previously employed as band 8a department lead.
  • Lead on service improvement projects with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Development of physiologist/scientist led services.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Essential:

  • Sensitive and effective communication; strong education/training skills; regular presenter/lead for local/in-house meetings.
  • Strong people-management skills; clear and precise written communication.

Desirable:

  • People-management training; presenter at regional or national meetings.
