As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for an Applications Scientist to join our technical team at our site in Harpenden. You will be involved in various research projects involving but not limited to laboratory and greenhouse trials to evaluate new and existing chemistries generating biological performance data, supporting product developments and the wider agricultural team within Croda. The role will include designing and executing glasshouse trials as well as analysing and reporting the results.
Who We’re Looking For
- You will be an innovative scientist with knowledge of crop science and trials.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- You will be an effective team player and have strong interpersonal skills to enable you to build good working relationships.
- You should be educated to degree level within a scientific discipline.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in biology/agriculture/horticulture or relevant plant science is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge and experience in formulation science would be advantageous.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Crop Protection industry would be advantageous but not essential.
- PA1 (Principles of Safe Pesticide Application) and PA6 (Handheld Pesticide Applicators) qualifications would be advantageous but not essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and executing glasshouse trials to support new and existing chemistries.
- General plant husbandry and cultivation of a variety of agricultural crops.
- Generating and analysing biological performance data.
- Communicating with immediate and wider agricultural team.
- Supporting customer projects and event attendance where relevant.
