Job overview

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Postgraduate Education Fellow with a Respiratory component. This post is an exciting opportunity for a Resident Doctor to formally develop their Medical Education experience and for those who want to make a commitment to education as part of their career.

This is one-year fixed term ‘out of programme’ post, based at the Chelsea Hospital site commencing anytime between Oct-Nov 2026

Please note you should only apply for the post if the following criteria are met:

  • Fully GMC registered.
  • Have significant experience of working in the NHS.
  • At a more senior level of training than IMT2/CT2.
  • Able to attend either virtual or face-to-face interview if shortlisted – anticipated October 2026
  • Able to take post anywhere between Oct-Nov 2026 for a 1-year fixed term post – some flexibility may be afforded here depending on speciality rotation dates.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should aim to use the year to build on their personal teaching experience, develop expertise in education theory and practice and undertake supervised educational research. Please review the PS/JD for a more complete duties/expectations breakdown.
There is no on-call work with this role.

Education and Qualifications

  • A Core-StR or SpR in a recognised specialty training programme.
  • Full GMC registration
  • Educational Qualification e.g. PGCert or MSc

Experience

  • Significant experience of working within the NHS (at least 3 years)
  • Presentation of work at a national or international meeting
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Demonstrates knowledge of career pathways in medical education

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to demonstrate personal and educational reasons for applying for this Fellowship programme
  • Shows a commitment to continuing professional development
