Job overview
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has been commissioned by NHS England to provide gender affirmation surgery for patients with gender dysphoria. Our vision is for an innovative and patient-centred service, based on the principle that patients must have equal access to surgical services whatever their gender identity with reasonable adjustments to the delivery of care to match the individual’s needs and circumstances.
The service is hosted by the Specialist Care Directorate and will be delivered in partnership with the Urology, Gynaecology and Plastic Surgery departments. The Trust is seeking to develop a world-class, highly skilled surgical team who will deliver tailored interventions as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team of professionals. The service is led by urologists, with support from plastic surgeons and gynaecologists who will work together to deliver the best possible functional and physical outcomes for patients.
Essential to the service are Clinical Nurse Specialists who play a key role in supporting patients throughout their pathway of care. They work in collaboration with the rest of the clinical team which includes psychologists, psychosexual therapists, Peer support, and a pharmacist. The service is managed by a full time Service Manager and supported by patient pathway coordinators who will be the first point of contact for service users and will provide administrative support to the clinical team.
