Due to the school’s continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an inspiring Head of Inclusion to start in August 2026. The Head of Inclusion at Cheltenham Muscat plays a vital leadership and management role within this British Independent All Through School, serving students from Kindergarten through to IGCSE and A Levels. The Head of Inclusion ensures that all students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive high-quality, inclusive support that enables them to access the Cambridge International Curriculum effectively. This role is pivotal in upholding Cheltenham Muscat’s ethos, rooted in the values and traditions of Cheltenham College UK, promoting academic excellence, cultural respect, and holistic student development. The Head of Inclusion will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student achieves their full potential in a culturally diverse environment.
The School Cheltenham Muscat opened in September 2021 and is Oman’s first, premium, British school, for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Leadership and Management of SEND Provision
- Lead the identification, assessment, and provision for students with SEND in line with the SEND Code of Practice and the Cambridge International Curriculum requirements.
- Work alongside school leadership to strategically allocate resources and ensure effective deployment of SEN funding.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review the Additional Learning Needs Policy and related procedures to ensure compliance with local regulations and British educational standards.
- Collaborate with curriculum leaders to ensure the SEND provision is integrated seamlessly across all phases from primary through secondary education.
- Monitoring and Assessment
- Manage communication and relationships with parents regarding their child’s SEND, EAL and AAL provision, including overseeing payments for services from parents where appropriate.
- Liaise with external agencies, specialists, and local authorities to secure additional support and advice for students as necessary.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on SEND best practises, ensuring understanding and commitment across the school community.
- Teaching and Learning Support
- Support teachers in adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and promote independent learning.
- Coordinate the work of learning support assistants and other support staff to deliver targeted interventions in small groups or one-to-one settings.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and respect, ensuring that SEND provision supports students’ spiritual, moral, social, cultural, physical, and mental development in line with the school’s vision and values.
- Provide training to one-to-one support teachers as employed by parents directly.
- Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of SEND identification, assessment, and intervention strategies within British curriculum and international contexts.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities such as exam access arrangements and financial administration related to SEN services.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and external professionals.
- Leadership skills to influence and inspire colleagues towards inclusive teaching and learning practises.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness to work effectively in a diverse school community with a significant proportion of Omani and expatriate students.
- Proficiency in data management and record-keeping systems related to SEND provision and student progress monitoring.
- Safeguarding
- The Head of Inclusion has a key responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of all students, ensuring compliance with statutory safeguarding guidance such as Keeping Children Safe in Education.
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to identify and act on any concerns related to the safety and wellbeing of students with SEND.
- Ensure that all SEND interventions and support mechanisms respect students’ rights and dignity, creating a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable learners.
- Contribute to staff training on safeguarding issues specific to SEND, including recognising signs of abuse or neglect that may be masked by learning difficulties.

- A relevant bachelors degree in SEN / Inclusion.
- Excellent leadership and organisational skills to manage a department in an All Through School setting.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
