The Opportunity

Due to the school’s continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an inspiring Teacher of Physical Education (Female) to start in August 2026. The successful candidate will be able to make a contribution to our already successful PE Department which strives to offer the best sporting provision in the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong teacher to become part of the team that will establish Cheltenham Muscat as the leading school in Oman. The School

Cheltenham Muscat opened in September 2021 and is Oman’s first, premium, British school, for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. Set on an outstanding state‑of‑the‑art campus, students and teachers at Cheltenham Muscat benefit from world‑class facilities for both academic and co‑cultural learning as well as strong support from our partner school Cheltenham College, who have been providing exceptional education for students for over 180 years.

The Person

We are seeking a well‑qualified and enthusiastic individual to join our growing Physical Education (PE) department. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, passionate and highly committed person possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills. The post will involve teaching PE to students across the school, with timetable allocation dependent upon the skills and experience of the appointed candidate. The successful candidate will also ensure that the values of Cheltenham Muscat are embedded within their teaching in order to develop our students into well‑rounded and upstanding young adults. It is essential that the Teacher of PE has the ability to communicate deep knowledge of and passion for sport and can support students learning through the provision of conceptual and practical methods as appropriate for the students being taught. Previous experience of the UK National Curriculum is important, as is the ability to motivate and inspire students in order to ensure that academic provision is consistently of the highest standard. All members of staff are also expected to be involved in pastoral care within the school community, usually in the role of form tutor or co‑tutor, and also to contribute to the extra‑cultural life of the school.

  • Teach a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum and contribute to the preparation and writing of schemes of work, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment.

  • Deliver well‑planned, engaging and creative lessons, ensuring that the needs of all children are met.
  • Differentiate appropriately, using approaches that enable every child to access the learning and make excellent progress.

  • Follow school procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on children’s achievements and use this information effectively to convey progress in report writing and record keeping.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a sports‑related field from a reputable university. (E)
