Full-time working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual, keen to learn and gain a Level 2 qualification, to join a friendly team working within our Maintenance Department which forms part of the wider Property Services team. The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of Cheltenham Ladies College which extends across a 36 acre site comprising of 15 boarding houses, a Performing Arts Centre, a Health and Fitness Centre, a number of smaller properties and College main site.

You will work as part of a fantastic small team who are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of Cheltenham Ladies College Main Teaching Site, Boarding Houses, Health and Fitness Centre and any other College owned properties. You will be responsible for carrying out various maintenance tasks, both planned and reactive, across the College estate.

Reports to: Small Works Manager

Role Overview: To work as part of a small team who are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of Cheltenham Ladies College Main Teaching Site, Boarding Houses, Health and Fitness Centre and any other College owned properties in accordance with the College aims and guidelines.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and learn from the existing maintenance team how to effectively and safely carry out various maintenance tasks, both planned and reactive, across the College estate. Over time you will be able to carry out some of the following maintenance tasks independently, these tasks can include, but are not limited to:

-General building fabric maintenance and repairs to windows, doors, furniture, locks, and flooring

-Fitting, repairing, or replacing a wide range of building related fixtures/fittings or equipment including shelving, notice/white boards etc

-General domestic electrical maintenance and repairs; broken sockets, defective lamp replacements and portable appliance testing

-General domestic plumbing maintenance and repairs to sinks, baths, taps, toilets showers, and associated blockages

-General external maintenance and minor repairs: drains, paths, steps, car parks as required

-Water safety testing and associated corrective actions

-General heating repairs and maintenance, including radiators and valves

-Undertake patch plastering/decorating and wall tiling as and when required

-Working with subcontractors, including escorting duties

-Specifying and collecting parts/materials from local suppliers when required

-Escort and monitor contractors as and when required

As well as those duties outlined above, you are expected to perform any other tasks reasonably assigned.

All staff are required to understand and comply with relevant health and safety legislation and CLC policies.

This job description will be subject to review/amendment during the performance review procedure or as appropriate by agreement between both parties in accordance with established practice.

College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and therefore all staff are required to:

-Undergo training on the safeguarding arrangements in College that covers the Child Protection Policy, the Staff Code of Conduct and the identity of the Designated Safeguarding Lead;

-Attend mandatory Child Protection training on joining, every three years thereafter and on other occasions for important updates;

-Ensure familiarity with College’s health and safety guidance, Data Protection and ICT acceptable use guidelines and be mindful of their own health and safety and that of our pupils.
