The successful candidate will become a visible and trusted presence within the Prep School, providing day‑to‑day support for staff and pupils while working closely with the wider College IT team to ensure reliable and effective technology services.

The role offers the opportunity to work in a professional and well‑established IT environment, supported by an experienced central IT team and modern technologies across Apple, Microsoft and classroom systems. It combines practical technical support with relationship‑building, problem solving and direct engagement with teaching staff and pupils. We look for individuals who enjoy helping people, take pride in providing reliable support, and value working within a collaborative school community. The role may suit candidates at different stages of their IT career, including those seeking a more community‑focused and balanced IT support environment. Professional development and training are actively supported.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, full‑time equivalent, depending on skills and experience.

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. The normal Prep School support pattern is 08:00‑16:00, Monday to Friday during term time. Occasional Saturday morning support will be required as part of the IT Support rota. We are also open to discussing full‑time, term‑time‑plus or annualised‑hours arrangements, provided the normal Prep School term‑time support pattern can be met. Some planned work during school holidays will be required for device refresh, preparation and agreed IT activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide day‑to‑day IT support for staff and pupils within the Prep School.
  • Support classroom technology, staff devices, printers, audio‑visual equipment and other digital services used across the school.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical issues, escalating more complex problems to senior colleagues where appropriate.
  • Assist with the setup, maintenance and deployment of iPads, Apple Macs, Windows PCs and other devices.
  • Help ensure that classroom and staff technology is reliable, well‑maintained and ready for day‑to‑day use.
  • Support school events, performances and other activities where technology plays a role.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider IT team to support and improve IT services across the College.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, secure and well‑organised IT environment.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • A friendly, approachable and professional manner, with a genuine willingness to help others.
  • Good practical IT troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve problems calmly and methodically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to support both adults and pupils.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • An interest in technology and a willingness to continue learning and developing technical skills.
  • Experience supporting Apple devices, iPads or Microsoft Windows devices would be advantageous.
  • Experience working in a school or education environment would be beneficial, although not essential.
  • Relevant IT qualifications, certifications or technical training would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team.

Why join Cheltenham College?

  • Be part of a friendly and supportive school community.
  • Work in a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
  • Join a professional and collaborative IT team supporting modern technologies and digital services.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • Flexible or term‑time working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
  • Competitive pension and staff benefits.
  • Benefits including lunch during term time, an Executive Pension Scheme, complimentary membership to College’s gyms and pool as well as discounts at local retailers, health & wellbeing and hospitality venues.
