Cheltenham College is seeking an enthusiastic, practical, and highly organised Design & Technology Technician to join its D&T Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a creative and forward‑thinking environment, providing hands‑on support to both staff and pupils across a range of inspiring projects and activities. The department benefits from excellent facilities, including specialist workshops, CAD/CAM equipment, exhibition space, and dedicated preparation areas.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing materials for lessons, maintaining equipment and machinery, supporting pupils during practical work, and helping to ensure a safe, efficient, and engaging learning environment. This is an ideal role for someone with strong practical workshop skills, excellent organisational ability, and a passion for supporting creative and technical learning in a busy school environment.
Person Specification- Experience working within a workshop, engineering, manufacturing, or educational environment
- Knowledge of workshop machinery, tools, and Health & Safety procedures
- An understanding of CAD/CAM equipment and practical D&T processes
- Good organisational and stock management skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support and encourage pupils
- A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach to work
- A commitment to maintaining a safe, tidy, and well‑organised working environment
Salary Based on experience and qualifications. Scale grade C - E. The salary will be pro‑rated to reflect the term time nature of the role. 0.88 FTE.
Working pattern 42 hours per week: Monday to Thursday: 8:45 am to 5:45 pm, Friday: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This is a term‑time contract, plus 15 additional days (equivalent to 3 working weeks to be worked during the school holidays).
