Revenues and Benefits Support Officer - The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into the Revenues and Benefits sector, learning on the job with full support provided. Working here means working as part of a committed, professional and friendly team. This role as Revenues and Benefits Support Officer is a varied and an integral part of our team, providing valuable daily support to our fast paced service. You will be expected to deliver excellent customer service via telephone, in writing and face to face, in order to provide, collect and process information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain council tax and business rate records
  • Update council tax support claims ensuring entitlement is assessed accurately and bills are issued promptly
  • Update Housing Benefit claims ensuring entitlement is assessed accurately and notification letters are issued promptly
  • Whilst primarily focused on the administration of housing benefits and council tax support, the postholder will be part of the Revenues and Benefits Team and will provide wider administrative support to the parking team, as required
  • To deal with telephone, written or face to face enquiries from customers and stakeholders

You:

  • Experience of working in local authority revenue collection dealing with council tax, business rates and/or parking administration is desirable
  • Experience of working in a financial environment is desirable
  • Experience of customer service and dealing with a range of people is desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a team environment is desirable
