We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of high-profile engineering and defence projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and external partners from concept through to customer acceptance. The Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of complex engineering projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality objectives while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders. You will work closely with engineering, commercial and programme teams to coordinate delivery activities, manage risks and support the successful execution of projects throughout the full lifecycle. The role offers exposure to advanced technologies, collaborative defence programmes and long-term capability development within a fast-paced and highly technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of engineering and defence projects from initiation through to completion.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress, budgets and commercial performance, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Manage project risks, issues and dependencies using structured risk management processes.
- Coordinate internal engineering teams, subcontractors and technical specialists to ensure successful delivery.
- Manage customer relationships and act as a key point of contact throughout project execution.
- Chair project meetings and produce clear project documentation, status reports and action tracking.
- Support bid and proposal activities, including project scoping, scheduling and cost estimation.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with governance processes, stage gates and quality standards.
- Mentor and support colleagues, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement across the team.
About You
You will be an experienced project manager with a strong background delivering engineering or defence-related programmes within complex technical environments. You should be confident managing multiple stakeholders, balancing commercial and technical priorities, and leading teams through challenging project lifecycles.

- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience delivering projects using structured methodologies such as PRINCE2, APM or PMP.
- Knowledge of V-Model delivery and stage-gate project governance.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers and subcontractors.
- Strong commercial awareness, budgeting and forecasting capability.
- A proactive and adaptable approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience using project scheduling and planning tools such as Microsoft Project.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Degree in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering medium-scale engineering, technology or defence projects.
- Experience managing budgets, risks, schedules and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance.
- Desirable: Previous defence or maritime sector experience.
- Professional project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM PMQ, PMP or equivalent).
Additional Information
Based in Blackbushe, Hampshire. Occasional travel may be required. Security clearance will be required for this role. Applicants must be eligible for UK Security Clearance and have lived in the UK for the last five years.
