About the job Assistant / Junior Designer

Due to our growing business needs, we are looking to expand our design team and are seeking candidates from varying levels, from Assistant to Junior Designer.

This job would suit someone from a multi-category clothing background who is accustomed to owning their own category areas, setting and identifying key trends, and has experience managing at least one other. This role will span Womenswear, Menswear, Kidswear, and accessories, and will sit across both Chelsea Peers and Renfold brand portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the design team in producing creative multi-product designs that represent the latest trends.
  • Working to briefs set by the Design Manager and Head of Product that are effectively executed.
  • Supporting general office administration.
  • Constantly generating relevant research and reporting on trends and inspiration by creating competitor shop reports, trend flashes, and key items.
  • Assisting in planning and designing new commercial ranges, taking responsibility from design concept to technical development, ensuring brand pricing architecture is followed and understood.
  • Preparing technical design files and updating CAD sheets accordingly, sending these and updated spec sheets to factories.
  • Sourcing fabrics and trims from suppliers and factories.
  • Liaising and building strong relationships with factories and suppliers, ensuring constant communication on direction, construction, key details, and materials.
  • Collaborating with the production team to ensure comments and approvals are made within 24 hours of submissions received.
  • Attending weekly fit sessions.
  • Assisting with preparation for sign-off meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working closely with the buying and technical team.
  • Following critical paths and key dates, ensuring deadlines are met and managing daily tasks.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible with the ability to work at pace in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to question the norm and make improvements as necessary.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Currently working at either assistant or junior designer level; this is not an entry-level role.
  • Understanding of print and graphic design; ability to design own prints is advantageous.
  • Trend-aware with a strong eye for colour and shape.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Cloud programs, especially Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Other:

  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK and be comfortable commuting to Chiswick, London, 3 days per week.
  • Full-time with flexible start time (8-10 am).
  • 25 days holiday.
