The Opportunity
This is a transformational moment for Chelsea FC, at a transformational moment in fan culture. Change is everywhere, and to stay ahead we’re evolving from globally admired football club to globally desired brand.
To help drive this change we’re building a world class creative studio, offering the full spectrum of expertise needed to put Chelsea FC into the heads and hearts of modern fans. Chelsea Creative Studio is currently design and video focused. Over time we will be expanding our skillsets into new areas including creative concepting and larger scale campaign production, brand activations and fan experiences.
As Studio Operation Lead, your mission is to set the conditions for CCS success.
You will be the orchestrator of operational excellence, putting in place and running a new CCS operating system, managing workflow and shaping, mentoring and leading a team of studio managers and production specialists.
You will be responsible for delivering an exceptional standard of work across a broad spectrum of branded touchpoints including physical spaces across Stamford Bridge, Kingsmeadow and Cobham, retail, merch, hospitality, seasonal campaigns (kit launches, merch, Christmas etc), seasonal toolkits, media and ecosystem shoots.
Key Responsibilities

  • Overall – Lead the overall operations and processes for Chelsea Creative Studio to ensure the smooth running and immaculate delivery of all projects.
  • Operational – Help roll out and run a new and improved operating model: Pipeline planning, workflow management, resourcing, scoping, briefing, project governance and QA, tracking, reporting, wash ups. Set up and manage the tools, services, people and processes we need to implement this successfully across the club.
  • Delivery – Oversee a team of operations execs and managers to ensure seamless delivery of projects. Lead from the front by managing key projects.
  • Financial – Oversee CCS finances including budget, invoice and expenses. Help evolve our commercial model (cost saving to revenue driving), help set annual targets, track, measure and report results.
  • Tech stack – Make sure we’re taking advantage of the best tools and services in market to increase our creative firepower, speed up production and take the hard work out of labour-intensive tasks (AI, automation, repurposing and creation tools).
  • Management – Lead, manage and mentor a team of studio managers, freelancers and creative partners. Develop the team’s skills, expand their thinking, enrich their work lives, help them feel like they are on a constant path of progress.
  • Relationships – Be the ‘go to’ CCS partner to stakeholders across the business. Become the trusted advisor in all projects briefed into the CCS. Manage contractors and external vendors.

What You Will Bring To The Role

  • Commercial – Strong grasp of business priorities, commercial targets, budget management and how CFC can save costs and drive revenue from partners.
  • Production – Full awareness of creative processes and techniques – including print production and digital platforms. Management and negotiation of suppliers. A keen attention to detail. Managing quality of output to a high standard.
  • Managerial – Ability to inspire team members, juniors and provide excellent mentorship and skills development. Invested in the growth, health and happiness of our team.
