Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club welcomes countless visitors throughout the year, and our food & beverage team is tasked with ensuring everyone is well catered for – from match day burgers for 40,000 fans to VVIP dinners.

We’re seeking a Senior Catering Manager tasked with driving the continuous development, profitable delivery and execution, and improvement of all catering services at Chelsea Football Club and Stamford Bridge.

This role focuses on ensuring a world-class catering experience by managing a diverse range of in-house operations, outsourced catering services, vendors, and providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Oversight and Day-to-Day Operation of Chelsea/Stamford Bridge Food & Beverage Business:

  • Oversee and manage the Venue catering partner, acting as a link between Chelsea Football Club and its 3rd party operator.
  • Lead the development and execution of catering services to align with the club\’s overall commercial strategy.
  • Design and implement operational plans that enhance catering services, support wider functions, and increase income generation for the club.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Operate as the expert for food and beverage services across the club
  • Act as a point of escalation for match day and VIP experiences with a consistent focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to operational teams enabling a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide analysis and reporting to senior level stakeholders.

Operational Excellence:

  • Serve as the lead on catering operations, managing complex projects and analysing data to inform decision-making, cost management, and revenue generation.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the club to ensure catering operations contribute to strategic goals, particularly within General Admission, Premium Hospitality and Meetings & Events.
  • Manage annual catering budgets to ensure cost control and value optimization.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and food safety compliance regulations to meet legislative requirements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage the catering partner to deliver operational requirements of the food and beverage department on match-day and non-match-day events.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences that exceed expectations.
  • Ensure partner KPIs are hit.
  • Detailed data analysis on matchday performance.
  • Achieve financial budgets and targets.
  • Plan and execute events with varying levels of complexity.
  • Analyse guest feedback and implement action plans to improve performance and service standards.
  • Assess and review food and beverage team members to ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • Oversee purchasing and procurement guidelines.
  • Monitor market competition and ensure alignment with industry standards.

Essential Requirements and Experience:

  • Management experience in food and beverage operations at large-scale venues.
  • Proven track record managing catering providers.
  • Expertise in stakeholder management and labour force planning.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience in using catering data to drive revenue.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident, personable, and approachable demeanour.
  • High level of discretion and integrity.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficient in basic IT tools, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to change.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
