The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join the Women’s Academy and devise, manage, and deliver an elite youth goalkeeping development programme designed to produce goalkeepers capable of playing for Chelsea FC Women.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead the strategic development of the Women’s Academy goalkeeping programme in collaboration with the Head of Women’s Academy & Senior Team Lead GK Coach.
  • Design and implement the academy goalkeeping programme for all age groups, working closely with the Senior Team Lead GK Coach.
  • Lead the delivery of the goalkeeping programme for the U18 age group and oversee individual action plans for U18 goalkeepers, including creating game/training clips.
  • Provide matchday support at all U18 games and other age groups as required.
  • Monitor and support the delivery of the goalkeeping programme for U12-U16 age groups, assisting where necessary.
  • Collaborate with the academy MDT to ensure goalkeeper development needs are met through analysis, physical performance, medical, psychology, and menstrual cycle considerations.
  • Work with the Talent ID Lead and Senior Team GK Coach to build and maintain a database and longlist of youth goalkeepers across all age groups, including creating and storing opposition goalkeeper video packages for U16 and below.
  • Support U18 goalkeepers with tactical information during sessions and lead the delivery of set-piece processes for the U18 team, ensuring consistency with the senior team.
  • Work with age group coaches to deliver and cascade the Chelsea Goalkeeper Profile within the team playing style.
  • Periodically review goalkeeper progress across all age groups and produce reports for the Head of Women’s Academy and Senior Team Lead GK Coach.
  • Assist in delivering internal and external CPD for goalkeeping staff and relevant stakeholders.

  • UEFA B GK Licence (Essential)
  • UEFA B Licence (Essential)
  • UEFA A GK Licence (Desirable)
  • Previous coaching experience in an elite youth development football environment (Essential)
  • Experience working with elite youth female athletes (Desirable)
  • Experience leading a youth goalkeeping development programme (Desirable)
