Assistant Producer – Sport, Branded Content & Digital Media

The Assistant Producer is a creative and strategic storyteller who bridges the gap between concept and execution across sports content, branded campaigns, and multi-platform productions. This role demands a versatile producer capable of developing compelling narratives, managing complex shoots, and delivering content that resonates across TV, digital, and social platforms. Working with high‑profile sports talent and commercial partners, the Assistant Producer will drive projects from ideation through to delivery, ensuring creative excellence and commercial success.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Development & Storytelling
    • Develop original concepts and creative treatments for sports documentaries, branded content, and digital series
    • Write compelling scripts and narratives that engage audiences and align with brand objectives
    • Create persuasive pitch decks and treatment documents for internal stakeholders, clients, and commercial partners
    • Lead ideation sessions and contribute innovative ideas that push creative boundaries
    • Research stories, talent, and subjects to uncover authentic and compelling narratives
    • Conduct thorough research and casting to identify the right contributors, athletes, and personalities for each project
    • Develop interview strategies and questioning frameworks that elicit authentic, engaging responses
    • Coordinate pre‑production logistics including location scouting, recces, and shoot planning
    • Liaise with talent to ensure they are prepared, comfortable, and aligned with the creative vision
  • Branded & Commercial Content Production
    • Produce high‑quality branded content for sponsors, commercial partners, and advertising campaigns
    • Balance creative storytelling with commercial objectives and brand guidelines
    • Manage client relationships, incorporating feedback while maintaining creative integrity
    • Deliver partnership assets that meet contractual obligations and exceed expectations
    • Understand the nuances of producing content that serves both editorial and commercial purposes
  • Short‑Form & Social Content
    • Produce engaging short‑form content optimized for social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter/X
    • Understand platform‑specific storytelling techniques, formats, and audience behaviours
    • Work at pace to deliver content that captures cultural moments and maximises engagement
    • Adapt long‑form content into compelling short‑form assets across multiple aspect ratios
  • Technical Production Skills
    • Shoot high‑quality content on Sony FX3/FX6 camera systems
    • Perform basic editing in Adobe Premiere Pro to cut rough assemblies, selects, and proof‑of‑concept edits
    • Understand technical workflows including file management, codecs, and delivery specifications
    • Collaborate effectively with editors, DITs, and post‑production teams
    • Use a second language (Spanish/Portuguese) to expand content opportunities in football and global sports contexts

  • Successful delivery of projects on time, on budget, and to creative brief

Person Specification

  • Proven production experience in sports content, branded entertainment, TV production, and/or digital media
  • Exceptional scriptwriting abilities with a portfolio demonstrating narrative craft and creative voice
  • Strong treatment and pitch deck creation skills, with examples of successful pitches
  • Creative ideation and development expertise, generating original concepts
  • Research and casting experience, securing compelling contributors
  • Excellent interview skills and ability to build rapport and extract authentic stories
  • Experience working with sports talent and understanding unique considerations
  • Branded content and commercial production experience, balancing creative and commercial objectives
  • Short‑form content expertise across social and digital platforms
  • Self‑starter mentality with strong project management and problem‑solving skills
  • Adaptability and creativity when production circumstances shift
  • Experience with large TV production teams and small social productions, understanding workflow differences
  • Basic Adobe Premiere Pro editing skills for assembly cuts and content review
  • Familiarity with camera operation on Sony FX3/FX6 systems
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator for visual assets and treatment materials
  • Lighting skills and understanding of three‑point lighting, natural light manipulation, and on‑location setups
  • Passion for football with knowledge of the sport, culture, and key narratives
  • Agency experience collaborating with brands, creative teams, and commercial stakeholders
  • Understanding of social media analytics and content performance optimisation
  • Existing network within sports, production, or agency communities
  • Experience producing documentary or long‑form content
  • Spanish as a second language (conversational to fluent)
