Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society Ltd was established in 1867, following a meeting of workers from a local ironworks, 23 years after the founding of the first Co-operative Society. We began trading in a small shop on Tindal Street, Chelmsford, and later merged with the Braintree and West Essex Co-operative in the late 1960s.
The Society provides goods and services throughout Mid Essex to both members and customers. Our family of businesses includes food, travel, funerals, and department stores.
