Lecturer In Engineering Workshop Skills

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, practical, and industry-experienced Lecturer in Engineering to join our growing Engineering team.

This role is focused on delivering hands-on workshop training rather than classroom-based engineering theory. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced machinists, toolmakers, maintenance engineers, manufacturing engineers, workshop technicians, or other engineering professionals with strong practical skills who would like to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of engineers.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality practical teaching and assessment across a range of Full-Time, Part-Time, and Apprenticeship programmes within our Engineering workshops. Learners will develop core machining and manufacturing skills using traditional workshop equipment and industry-standard processes.

  • Manual milling machines
  • Centre lathes and turning operations
  • Bench fitting and hand skills
  • Engineering measurement and inspection
  • Workshop health and safety
  • Engineering materials and processes
  • Supporting learners to develop practical workshop competence
  • CNC Machining Basic Principles/Programming

Teaching experience is welcome but not essential. If you have strong industry experience and a passion for developing others, we will support you to gain a teaching qualification.

About The Role

As a flexible, proactive, and learner-focused professional, you will work closely with colleagues to deliver engaging practical sessions that prepare learners for employment within engineering and manufacturing industries. You will help learners develop the confidence, skills, and professional behaviours expected by employers.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a workshop environment and wants to share their practical expertise with apprentices and full-time learners.

What We Can Offer

  • A supportive and experienced Engineering team
  • Modern workshop facilities
  • Opportunities for professional development and teacher training
  • The chance to make a real difference to the next generation of engineers

The College is committed to equality, diversity, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share these commitments.

Starting salary will depend on qualifications, skills, and experience. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Applications will be considered upon receipt.
